PARISIONERS in west Belfast have spoken of their "deep shock" after their priest was threatened at gunpoint by two men on Friday.

The priest, who is from Australia, was left badly shaken when the men forced their way into the parochial house at St Michael the Archangel on Finaghy Road North.

Massgoers leaving church this morning described it as a "terrible ordeal for a lovely man".

The attack happened shortly before 8pm on Friday evening.

And police said they are investigating a possible link between the burglary and another hours later in Co Tyrone.

The priest, who is in Belfast for the summer to provide cover, officiated at a funeral on Saturday morning but took a break from duties today.

The men stole cash and a set of keys before fleeing when they triggered a burglar alarm at the adjoining church.

Hours later, in Dungannon, a man and a woman were left "badly shaken" when two men forced entry to their house on Circular Road.
