ONE of Dublin's most iconic hotels is to go on the market, and it can be all yours if you have €80 million to spare.
The hotel, which will be 200 years old next year, was opened by Thomas Gresham and the brand also boasts properties in Cork, Brussels and Hamburg.
The Gresham was caught up in the events of Easter 1916 when British troops used the hotel as a base to fire on rebels based in the GPO.
It underwent a major refurbishment in 2013 and now offers more than 400 rooms along with extensive conference and banqueting facilities.
Dave Murray, Director at Christie and Co said: "The hotel is renowned for hosting some of the great figures of the 20th Century from the world of politics, commerce and Hollywood including US President Dwight D Eisenhower, Elizabeth Taylor and the Beatles to name but a few."
A statement from Christie and Co and CBRE Hotels states that the hotel will have a guide price of "excess of €80 million.
It said: "The Gresham is being offered unencumbered giving the purchaser the choice to continue trading 'as is' under its existing strong identity or to immediately convert to any of the most recognisable and successful global hotel brands.
"This unique opportunity to acquire Dublin’s Gresham Hotel is likely to attract worldwide interest from a variety of investor categories."
