FRIENDS' star Courteney Cox has reportedly ended her engagement with Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid.

There was speculation that the 51-year-old American actress and McDaid (39), from the Culmore area of Derry, would get married in Ireland or Los Angeles by the end of this year.

But according to reports from the US, the couple split up a month ago and McDaid has moved out of the couple's mansion in Malibu.

A source said McDaid was planning to move back to London to concentrate on his musical career.

The couple announced their engagement last year, several months after they were introduced by their mutual friend, musician Ed Sheeran.

Earlier this year, Cox said she was in "no rush" to marry although her 11-year-old daughter Coco was keen to be a bridesmaid.

"Johnny and I are still in the planning stages, although Coco seems to want to be wedding planner and has taken over," she said.

"We're in no rush but we'd like to do it some time soon... More so for Coco, who can't wait to be a bridesmaid."

In April, Cox actress told US chatshow host Jimmy Kimmel she struggled with how McDaid pronounced certain words.

"He's got this beautiful accent - so we were celebrating our engagement a year ago and in Northern Ireland you say the word 'now', not like n-o-w but it's like n-a-u-w. It's weird and it's hard to do - I cannot get it," she said.

The couple have not yet responded to the reports.
