Fortnite’s creators are trying to resolve an issue affecting some Android devices running the game’s newly released beta.
Although problems are to be expected in the beta testing phase, Epic Games has responded to a number of users experiencing poor performance.
We have seen reports that some players on 4GB Android devices are encountering an issue causing poor performance. This is due to multiple background applications running–leaving the device without enough memory for Fortnite. We are investigating and working on a fix!

The company said it was looking into the problem, which has hit some players running Android devices with 4GB RAM, meaning handsets such as the Galaxy S range and Google Pixel devices could be affected.
Lack of device memory and the running of multiple background apps is thought to be the cause of the issue, Epic Games told players.
Fortnite was finally made available to Android users on August 11, after a brief exclusivity period on Samsung smartphones and tablets to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Note 9.
Gamers have to sign up to the beta waiting list via email and can only participate if they are using one of the compatible devices.
Epic Games made the unprecedented move of bypassing the Google Play Store and instead asking players to download the game via its website, allowing the company to avoid paying Google a 30% cut of revenue.
