Anything goes on my new show, says Alan Carr

The comedian will host the six-part Sky programme There's Something About Movies.

Alan Carr has said “anything goes” on his new celebrity panel show about films.

There’s Something About Movies will see actors and comedians showing off their knowledge of Hollywood in a bid to prove they know the most about the industry.

The comedian will host the six-part programme, from the makers of Bafta-winning A League of Their Own, with the first episode airing on Thursday.

The 42-year-old said: “It’s got that real Friday Night Project thing about it because it’s all like anything goes and the team are so good, they’re the team behind League Of Their Own.

“So, when we started thinking about the show, I knew I would be doing some crazy shit, full frontal nudity and make a tit of myself in a public place.

“But you know what? I like the energy of that because you watch some panel shows and they’re just stuck behind this panel and you’re like, ‘bore off’.”

The TV personality is best known for known for hosting the popular Channel 4 show Chatty Man, which came to an end in 2016.

He will front the Sky One show alongside the two captains, comedian Micky Flanagan and Hollywood star Michael Sheen.

Carr said they can “hold their heads high” because of the “calibre” of celebrities on the series – with Lily Collins, Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Saunders all set to feature – but added it doesn’t get too highbrow.

“If it was going to be a panel show about Brexit, I probably would have said no,” he said.

“I go on Twitter and people must get up in the morning at like 8am and then moan about Brexit. I’m like, ‘At least have some Coco Pops first – have some breakfast’. People are permanently angry.

“So, this is the perfect antidote to all that misery out there and it’s just a laugh and it doesn’t get too highbrow; no-one is going to feel silly because they don’t know these films.

“It’s just fun – a celebration probably, of movies.”

There’s Something About Movies premieres on Sky One and NOW TV from Thursday May 2.
