Fans and stars rejoice as Celebrity MasterChef crowns winner

Angellica Bell's husband was among those dishing out congratulations.

Angellica Bell’s husband Michael Underwood has congratulated the TV presenter as she was named the winner of the 2017 series of Celebrity MasterChef.

She beat off competition from radio DJ Dev Griffin and TV star Ulrika Jonsson to take home the title.

Underwood, who was a finalist on the show in 2012, wrote on Twitter: “Not sure what to say. So proud of @angellicabell and have no problem with her doing better than me on @MasterChefUK…no problemo. Nada.”

He added a crying face emoji.

After her win, Bell said: “It feels so good, I’ve worked so hard.

“Apart from getting married and having my children this is up there.”

Judge Gregg Wallace showered her with praise, saying: “You are one of the best Celebrity MasterChef contestants I’ve ever seen.”

Critic Jay Rayner wrote on Twitter: “Huge congrats to @angellicabell who among us didn’t want to try that dessert? Serious result.”

Alexis Conran, who won the show last year, wrote: “Huge congratulations to @angellicabell Amazing food! Well done!!!”

She impressed with her parmesan pastry tart with fig and onion relish and baked camembert, pan-fried halibut with king prawns, new potatoes, asparagus and fennel garnish with caper and vermouth sauce.

But it was her pear Bourdaloue with amaretto jellies and vanilla pear liqueur and mascarpone cream that really dazzled.

Wallace told her: “Many restaurants can’t make desserts that look as good as that.

“That is the work of a craftsman.”

He added: “That is nothing short of brilliant, one of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted.”

Judge John Torode added: “That is absolutely perfect in every way, shape and form.”

Bell wrote on Twitter: “So happy and need to thank these two supportive, generous, loveable rogues @JohnTorode1 and @GreggAWallace it was incredible! ”

She added: “I need to give a MASSIVE thanks EVERYONE for all the love and support – if I could invite you all round for dinner, I would!”

One fan wrote on Twitter: “Such a well deserved #MasterChefuk winner – I really, really hope Angellica opens a restaurant, with hubby ….. soon. ”

Another wrote: “Massive congratulations @angellicabell! Your drive & determination was immense… Not to mention your super stylish food.”
