Dame Vera Lynn is expected to beat rapper Drake to third place in the album charts.

The Forces’ Sweetheart, who was serenaded by pupils at her former primary school as she marked her centenary, has released her new album, Vera Lynn 100.

And it is predicted to beat Drake, whose new offering More Life is expected to hit fourth place in the charts, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

Drake’s new project is officially described as a “playlist” rather than an album and also features Skepta, Kanye West, Sampha and others.

The chart spot will mean Dame Vera, who has turned 100, will beat her own record as the oldest living artist to reach the top 20.

Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran is expected to retain his place at the top of the album and singles charts.

Ed’s record Divide, which became the fastest-selling album by a male artist in the UK, is set to stay at the top of the album chart, followed by Depeche Mode’s Spirit at number two.

His track, Shape Of You, is Number One in the singles chart, while Galway Girl and Castle On The Hill means he also retains second and third place.

The Official Charts Company said that the star’s new album had now shifted over one million in sales across physical, digital and streaming equivalent.
