Football fans encouraged to take farmyard animals to game

Geese, pigs, cows and llamas are among the livestock that will be welcome when Austin Bold take on Phoenix Rising in the US.

Football fans in America will have a chance to take their farmyard animals to a match.

Austin Bold, who play in the second-tier USL Championship, are holding a Farmer in the Del Valle night for their forthcoming game against Phoenix Rising.

Fans are being encouraged to take their animals to Bold Stadium for the April 17 fixture – and if they do, they will get in free of charge.

The club said animals permitted at the event include chicks, ducks, geese, goats, cows, pigs, turkeys, sheep, horses, llamas and donkeys.

The livestock will be kept near the pitch and be looked after by students from youth organisation 4H, which will also get a portion of the profits from the game.

Austin are a relatively new club, having been founded in 2017.

They joined the USL Championship this year and only played their first game at the new Bold Stadium on March 30.
