Tens of thousands of people have spent their Saturday marching in the name of science.
Events were organised in more than 500 locations across the world with scientists, students and research advocates joining up to take part in the March for Science – a rally coinciding with Earth Day to celebrate scientific progress and hoping to raise awareness of what’s been achieved because of science over the years.
A shout out to all those today who #MarchForScience. The truth is out there. Embrace it. Cherish it. Protect it.

It’s also in response to “President Donald Trump’s dismissal of climate change”, the hope of the organisers being that greater awareness will increase public support for policies that protect scientific research. But just because the main message of the rally was serious, that doesn’t mean participants couldn’t have some fun with their placards.
