Charlton Athletic players were led out at The Valley by the brother of PC Keith Palmer ahead of their game against MK Dons.

Palmer, 48, was stabbed to death during the Westminster terror attack while guarding the Palace of Westminster on March 22 – four others died during the attack, including the attacker.

Palmer was a loyal supporter of Charlton Athletic football club and the club have paid tribute to him in a number of ways, including being led out by Palmer’s brother, John.

The players were then joined by police officers for a silence before the game.

Furthermore, players wore special match-day shirts with Palmer’s warrant number upon them and the club have replaced his seat with a white chair until the end of the season.

The club will be donating 50% of the game’s ticket sales to Palmer’s family, while the players are donating their match appearance fee – planning is also under way for a permanent memorial stone in Palmer’s honour.

A collection took place outside the Valley Superstore ahead of the game, and wreaths were laid ahead of kick-off.
