Nigel Farage was knighted by a small child on live TV – and there was nothing Douglas Carswell could do about it.
The former Ukip leader was appearing on Sam Delaney’s News Thing on RT when the host invited a young girl on set dressed as the Queen and carrying an inflatable sword.

Farage knew exactly what to next and got down on one knee before being declared “Sir Nigel Farage” by Delaney. He added: “We’re also making you honorary British ambassador to America and honorary MP for South Thanet because they didn’t elect you for real.”And then in a moment which, call us cynical, didn’t seem 100% spontaneous, the girl said: “My mummy says you hate foreigners.”Cheeky.
The stunt came after reports that Carswell, the Ukip’s only MP, played a role in blocking a knighthood for the former leader.Leaked emails showed Carswell joked that Farage should be given an OBE “for services to headline writers”.
