The group, organised by the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement and Changing Attitude, and supported by Out and Proud African LGBTI, gathered outside the General Synod in London singing hymns and waving banners reading “Stop anti-gay hate”.They’re demanding the Church of England ends inequality and are calling for the rejection of the bishops’ report, which they say defends “heterosexual superiority” and opposes same-sex blessings and marriages. The protest comes ahead of a debate being held at the Synod later today on homosexuality, same-sex marriage and the criticisms that the Church is failing to give gay people a voice.

The protesters were greeted by senior members of the church as they attended the day’s meetings – and were even offered coffee and cakes while morning prayers were taking place inside.
