It can be tricky picking the perfect Valentine’s Day card for your partner – cue way too long spent staring at the shelves, deliberating over which one to go for.
For same-sex couples, it can be even harder – having to make do with a generic card that doesn’t have an illustration or wording suggesting any particular gender.
But hats off to Sainsbury’s, because they’re now selling same-sex cards for the first time. *raises hands*
Forget-me-not: Same-sex #ValentinesDay cards are now available in our stores ????????????????https://t.co/jLrTi0DI0D

The cute cards have a simple design featuring illustrations of a man and a man, and a woman and a woman, along with the words ‘You + Me’. N’awwwww – take a look at the cards for yourselves.
James Brown, Director of Commercial at Sainsbury’s Argos, said: “Choosing the perfect Valentine’s Day card is a personal and sentimental experience, which is why we’re pleased to offer new same-sex cards and give all of our love-stricken customers the ability to choose the card that’s right for them.”FYI, the prices for the cards start at £1.99, and they’ve been introduced to 500 stores across the country. The supermarket’s move has been met with a lot of joyous approval on Twitter, although some people can’t wrap their heads around the fact it’s taken this long.
