COMEDY superstar and Will Smith Oscar slap victim Chris Rock will broadcast his hugely anticipated new stand-up comedy special live on Netflix this weekend.

On Saturday night, the South Carolina-born comic will become the first ever entertainer to perform live on the global streaming service with his Selective Outrage show, which is set to be filmed live at Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre and broadcast instantaneously to Netflix subscribers across the US at 10pm Baltimore time (3am on March 5 in Ireland).

Rock is on record as saying that the special is "going to be global in 190 countries all at once" with "no pre-records, no edits". According to Netflix, Selective Outrage will be available to Netflix subscribers in Ireland and Britain "on March 5", though details remain unclear about how or indeed if Irish Chris Rock fans will actually be able to watch along live.

What we do know is that the special is set to feature live commentary from Rock's comedy peers, including Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, Ronny Chieng, Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones, David Spade, Dana Carvey and JB Smoove.

Additionally, Selective Outrage will be prefaced by a pre-show filmed at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Hosted by Ronny Chieng, it will start at 9:30pm and is set to feature appearances from Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones, Cedric the Entertainer, Ice-T, Paul McCartney, Sarah Silverman, Deon Cole, Jerry Seinfeld and Rock's fellow 2022 Oscars hosts Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.

Billed as starting "immediately after Selective Outrage" will be The Show After The Show,  a segment hosted by David Spade and Dana Carvey with appearances from JB Smoove and basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
