IRISH actor Stephen Clinch, who starred in crime drama Love/Hate, has died suddenly aged 52.

The father-of-three, who was best known for his role as criminal Noely in the RTÉ series, was found dead in Dublin yesterday.

He also appeared in the 2017 film Cardboard Gangsters and in the 2019 TV3 crime series Darklands.

Clinch was jailed in 2016 after admitting carrying out a €50,000 armed robbery. He was released from prison in 2019.

Fellow Love/Hate star John Connors described Clinch as "one of the funniest and most decent people I've ever known".

"As loyal as a friend you could ever want. Love you Clinchy," he wrote on social media.

Mark O'Connor, writer of Cardboard Gangsters and Darklands director, also wrote on Twitter: "You made mistakes, but you came through them.

"An incredible actor, the only one to star in all my films and Darklands."
