Random act of kindness in Castlewellan Forest Park

A woman who needed a sugary drink for health reasons was caught out when she didn't have any cash but a friendly family came to her rescue in Castlewellan Forest Park

"My 11-month baby girl and I had been for a long walk around Castlewellan Forest lake in Co Down and I was exhausted after pushing the pram the distance so entered the cafe to order a drink only to discover they don’t accept card payments and I had no cash on me.

"The car was another 20 minutes' walk away so I told the cashier I’d have to leave it but then a lovely family behind me offered to pay for my fizzy drink.

"Unknown to the family, I suffer from hypoglycaemia due to a very rare condition which is a non-cancerous tumour on my pancreas. It has caused havoc with my health and was only discovered three weeks after having my baby when I was rushed to A&E with stroke symptoms.

"I was starting to feel shaky having walked so far and was worried about getting back to the car safely with my baby so thanks to the kindness of a stranger I was able to ensure my sugar levels were safe for me and baby. The family told me to pass it on which I absolutely will."
