THE Antrim Coast Road is regularly named as our most scenic route, and it has now made a list proclaiming the '10 most scenic UK roads for drivers', writes William Scholes.

It joins justifiably famous roads in Britain, including Snake Pass in the Peak District and the North Coast 500, the stunning 516-mile around the north of Scotland which begins and ends in Inverness.

This particular list has been compiled by used car buying service ChooseMyCar.com, who have also made a video highlighting each of its favourite roads.

ChooseMyCar.com founder Nick Zapolski said he hoped the list would help drivers plan "an epic road trip".

"Many of these scenic roads are located close to brilliant holiday destinations too - so why not plan them into a 2023 staycation?"

In no particular order, the roads on the 'most scenic' list are: Cat and Fiddle, Buxton; North Coast 500, Inverness; Antrim Coast Road; A272 South Downs, Chichester; Cheddar Gorge, Cheddar; Black Mountain Pass, Llandovery; Buttertubs Pass North Moors, Richmond; Peak District Snake Pass, Buxton; Rhiogos, Aberdare; Hardknott Pass, Ambleside.

All of the Antrim Coast Road is spectacular, as well as an engineering feat. You will have your own favourite section; mine is probably Torr Head, where it feels like the narrow, undulating ribbon of tarmac runs to the edge of the world.
