Volkswagen broadens ID4 range

VOLKSWAGEN has added a smaller capacity battery and two new motor options to the ID4 electric SUV range.

It means you can now have an ID4 that is eligible for the government's £2,500 plug-in car grant, which now only applies to cars that cost less than £35k, giving a starting price of £32,150 for a car in entry 'City' specification.

There's also now a Style trim grade.

A motor called 'Pure' in VW lingo offers 146bhp and 162lb ft of torque while the 'Pure Plus' gets 168bhp and 229lb ft.

Both are offered with a 52kWh battery which has a range of up to 213 miles in City trim and 211 miles in Style specification.

The City Pure gets that £32,150 price tag, with a City Pure Performance priced from £36,030.

Style Pure cars cost from £38,150 and a Style Pure Performance from £39,530.
