Limited editions enhance Ford Ranger's appeal

THE Ford Ranger is one of our favourite pick-ups here at Drive, and now there are two new limited edition models.

Bearing the appropriately rough and tough names of 'Stormtrak' and 'Wolftrak', the four-wheel-drive trucks might have lost a 'c' in their titles but have gained some extra equipment.

The Stormtrak gets Ford's excellent 210bhp diesel engine paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, while the Wolftrak has a 168bhp unit and a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, though the automatic can be optioned.

The Stormtrak is finished in 'rapid red' paint, has LED headlamps and beefed up underbody protection.

The Wolftrak, meanwhile, majors on a 'blacked out' exterior aesthetic.

Although Ford is announcing information about the limited edition Rangers now, they won't arrive with dealers until October.
