VOLKSWAGEN has widened the Tiguan SUV range by adding a couple of new petrol engine options.
The turbocharged 2.0-litre unit is offered with either 188bhp/236lb ft or 242bhp/273lb ft.
Both are fairly brisk for a family SUV. The lower-powered car has a 0-62mph time of 7.4 seconds with the 242bhp version taking just 6.0 seconds.
Four-wheel-drive and a seven-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox are standard.
The 188bhp version can be had in either Elegance or R-Line trim, priced at £36,275 and £36,140 respectively.
R-Line is the only option for the more powerful model, which nudges £40k at £39,560.
