AS publicity photos go, Laura Bonner could hardly ask for more: living legends of music and film drinking her product.

Better still (pun perhaps intended), the founder of the Muff Liquor Company was there enjoying an after-party with rap icon Snoop Dogg, superstar Ed Sheeran, and screen hero Russell Crowe.

Indeed Sheeran and Crowe are investors in her business, along with English comedian Jimmy Carr and former Boyzone lead singer Ronan Keating, a financial boost which will allow her to expand her range and also eventually set up a visitor centre in the eponymous village on the Inishowen peninsula in Donegal.

Currently in Melbourne, Australia, Bonner is understandably thrilled to have secured the involvement of such massive names, saying:

"Ed and Russell are my new investors, along with Jimmy Carr, and Ronan Keating – the deal only completed on Christmas Eve.

"We launched in Australia on the first of March, so that's why we're making a bit of noise about it now."

'Muff Liquor Down Under' is a marketing slogan that has gone down well with the Australian market, with Bonner's boldness having secured the involvement of Crowe.

"Russell was filming in Ireland last summer and I found out where he was going to be, after filming one Saturday night. I asked a friend's friend to deliver a Muff Gift Box, which contains gin, vodka, whiskey and a few other things.

"I wrote him a wee note saying 'Russell, welcome to Ireland – you're officially a Muff Liquor member. We're launching in Australia in First Choice liquor market on the 1st of March, we'd love your support.'

"I was hoping he was going to do a Tweet – he really, really enjoyed the products and then I got a message from one of his people on the Monday morning, asking if I'd be free for a meeting. I went down and the rest is history.

"He asked if he could bring in a few other names. I said 'You can do what you want'. They have bought 30 per cent of the company, the four of them."

The inspiration for the Muff Liquor company was her late grandfather Philip McClenaghan, a potato farmer who also distilled potato vodka.

It's a long, long way from Greencastle in Donegal to Melbourne, further still to Snoop Dogg's after-party, with Ed Sheeran and Russell Crowe.

Yet Laura Bonner is only starting out on her journey,

"I was very overwhelmed. The deal was pretty big. I got to see Jimmy, he's touring Australia now, with Ed, and Russell all at the same time.

"I was listening to Ed singing a few songs to about 10 of us at the after-party, I felt like I was going to cry. I am so grateful to all of them for this opportunity."
