So, that’s that then.

The sprouts have been eaten, the champagne’s been popped and the New Year has been welcomed.

The festivities are done and dusted - so can we move on now please?

While I love Christmas, I detest the bit in the middle between December 25 and the New Year and love getting back to routine.

Of course, many people will be taking on a new routine this January in a bid to get cracking on their New Year resolutions.

From giving up smoking to learning a new skill, it takes time and discipline and fair play to anyone who's taking up the challenge.

Losing weight also will no doubt be high on many agendas in 2020 - with some people joining the gym or taking up a new exercise class.

Many celebs have also been busy keeping up with their exercise regimes over Christmas, not letting the festive season get in the way of their search for body perfection.

But come on, are we really expected to go to these ridiculous lengths?

Former TOWIE star, Kate Ferdinand, who is now married to former footballer Rio Ferdinand, recently revealed some of her secrets to her beautiful body in a new book - Fitter, Happier, Healthier: The Ultimate 4 Week Body

Transformation Plan.

Now, don’t get me wrong, the 28-year-old looks phenomenal and many would kill for her figure but she goes to crazy lengths to look so good.

In her new book, Mrs Ferdinand divulged that she enjoys a sandwich once a year at Christmas in a bid to keep her look.

Come on. Wise up. One sandwich a year?

It just sounds weird.

I mean, how does she eat her Tayto Cheese and Onion crisps without bread?

And, as if that’s not bad enough, she also stores her sweet treats in hard to reach places.

Apparently, the idea is, if she feels like something sweet, she has to go to the trouble of getting out a set of steps to reach the hard place.

But, by the time she has done this, it has given her time to think about what she is doing and it stops her.

My goodness.

Now that’s real discipline.

But it all sounds like a lot of effort, doesn’t it?

I'm afraid it's all a bit much for me and the idea of one sandwich a year just sounds like torture.

It's certainly not my idea of enjoying life but of course, if I had loads of money in the bank and countless holidays a year, it may not seem like such a chore.

You can keep your fads and fitness books, I'll stick to my cheese sandwiches in 2020.

The New Year is bringing us some fab television.

Tonight, The Masked Singer arrives on ITV and I’m looking forward to it.

The show, which is hosted by Joel Dommett, sees a celebrity judging panel made up of Jonathan Ross, singer Rita Ora, Davina McCall and actor Ken Jeong try to figure out which celebrities are under elaborate costumes whilst they sing - and it could be absolutely anyone.

Looks like great fun and let’s face it, Saturday night telly could really do with a shake up and this could do just the trick.
