KUDOS to Jack Black for pulling a Gwyneth Paltrow and forgetting that he had starred in a film.

It all came to light when he stopped to speak to Variety magazine on the red carpet at the premiere of Jumanji 2 and was asked to choose his favourite Christmas film.

“My favourite holiday film, you know what, it’s got to be Elf, because once again [it’s] Jon Favreau, I don’t know if I’m saying it right, and Will Ferrell just knocking it out the park.”

The Variety journalist commended Jack for his modesty in choosing another film over his own. “Do I have a Christmas movie?” Jack asked.

“Which one is mine?... Oh, The Holiday! Obviously The Holiday,” he noted, before praising director Nancy Meyers as a “genius”. He sauntered off down the red carpet in the most Jack Black way imaginable. It was stellar.

The Holiday is among the worst films Sleb Safari has ever endured in the cinema so it’s no surprise that Jack would blank it from his memory. It meets Sleb Safari’s rom-com criteria and yet, it sucks.

There are only three Christmas films worth watching every year – Home Alone, Love Actually and The Family Stone. Don’t @ me with your talk of It’s A Wonderful Life or Elf.

Jack isn’t the first sleb to forget they were in a film.

Gwyneth Paltrow has form here. And her memory lapse also involves Jon Favreau.

Gwyneth appeared on an early episode of Jon Favrea’s The Chef Show and he talked about how the idea for the programme took shape when he was filming Spider-Man: Homecoming with Gwyneth.

“Spider-Man?” Gwyneth responds.

“Yeah, we were in Spider-Man together,” Jon tells her. “Remember, we were on Spider-Man?”

“We weren’t in Spider-Man,” Gwyneth insists.

“Yes we were. You were in Spider-Man.”

“No. I was in Avengers.”

“No, you were in Spider-Man also. Remember, Spider-Man, at the end? And Tom Holland’s there and you’re gonna walk out and do a press conference?"

“Oh, yes. That was Spider-Man? Oh my God!” Gwyneth tinkled and you couldn’t help but laugh along with her since it’s relatively easy to forget where your last multi-million-pound pay cheque came from.

Paul Bettany has also fallen foul of ‘no, that wasn’t me’.

He told Digital Spy that he once tried to correct someone when they paid him a compliment.

"Someone said, 'I loved you in Iron Man'. I said, 'You've got me mixed up with someone else'. I forgot I did the voice because it was only 30 minutes in a recording studio laughing my a**e off."

To be fair Sleb Safari couldn’t tell you what it did in work last Monday let alone the third Monday in December last year so it’s going to take Jack, Gwyneth and Paul’s faux pas and add them to its file marked Celebrities Are Just Like Us where they shall be documented next to stories from Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney.

Granted, it’s not a thick file but it is accepting submissions and shall be used as teaching material in whichever academical institution wishes to hire Sleb Safari as head of curriculum for Celebrity Studies: 101.

Christmas can be a struggle so seek support if you need it

CHRISTMAS isn’t an easy time for many people. More people than you might imagine find the weeks leading up to Christmas lonely or stressful, or both.

Jamie Lang from Made in Chelsea is helping Barnardo’s Kidsmas fundraising campaign and had some wise words for those who aren’t feeling celebratory.

“The first thing I would say is that anxiety is just a cloudy day. And when you have a cloudy day there is blue sky above that cloud. It’s just about finding a way of getting to that blue sky.

“Sometimes sitting with it, understanding that it will pass, and knowing that it’s not going to be there forever is important.

“I find exercise can really help, but speaking about it and being open is vital.

“People are scared to speak about it, especially at Christmas when you’re meant to be having all this fun.

“Because trust me, if you’re feeling anxious, there are thousands of others who are feeling exactly the same thing and all just want to talk about it.”

SLEB Safari is at a loose end come 9 o’clock every evening now that I’m A Celebrity has finished.

It wouldn’t have thought it had an hour or more free every night but by heck it hopped onto that sofa at 9pm and wasn’t to be disturbed.

It just goes to show that it’s true what they say, you could squeeze an hour of exercise into your day or spend that hour writing a book or watching YouTube videos on applying eye make-up.

With that in mind Sleb Safari plans to use its ‘spare’ hour to exercise and fully intends continuing with its I’m A Celebrity regime which involved lots of stretching of the tea drinking arm and a proper work out for the eyes.
