IF YOU'RE the kind of woman who is constantly in the know about the latest fitness trends and always up for trying a new class, chances are your activewear wardrobe is equally on-trend.

So as we get back into our exercise regimes following the festive lull, it's the perfect time to look at the fitness fashion trends that are making waves now, and update our workout wardrobes.

What's in store for 2019? Black takes a back seat for once, as bold prints and pretty colours make a splash.

But don't worry, if all-black-everything is your usual MO, there are enough muted hues and minimalist styles in the new season collections to satisfy even the most ardent colour-avoider.

Whatever your workout of choice, here are five fitnesswear trends that are set to take off in 2019...

LEOPARD PRINT

Animal print was a huge trend on the autumn/winter catwalks, and now leopard spots have leapt into sportswear collections too. Matching a printed sports bra and leggings is a fierce way to work the trend, or you could pair leopard leggings with a neon top for a pop of colour.

:: F&F at Tesco Leopard Print Leggings, £16 (in store only)

STRAPPY DETAILING

In an uber sweaty HIIT or hot yoga class, the aim is generally to wear as little as possible while still having a bit of support – strappy sports bras are perfect for this. Multi-strap and lace-up details add interest to an outfit, so you can team an intricate bra with plain leggings for an easy activewear update.

:: Lorna Jane Renew Sports Bra, £49

:: Fabletics Devore Seamless Sports Bra, £26 (£10 for members)

BALLERINA STYLE

Ballet barre classes continue to be hugely popular and now ballerina style is trending too. That means wrap tops for warm-ups and cool-downs, soft grey tones and lots of pale pink.

:: FatFace Athleisure Marnie Ballet Wrap Top, currently reduced to £31.50 from £42; Athleisure Esme Tapered Joggers, reduced to £31.50 from £42 (bag, stylist's own)

:: Fabletics Eva Bomber Jacket, £77 (£57 for members)

KHAKI

At the other end of the style spectrum, khaki and camouflage print are here to get you pumped for brutal circuits classes. Bootcamp veteran? Go head to toe camo. New recruit? Start slowly with a dash of khaki.

:: Boohoo Fit Premium Back Strap Detail Bra, currently reduced to £11.20 from £14; Fit Premium Colourblock Leggings, reduced to £14.40 from £18; Chunky Sole Dad Trainers, reduced to £22.40 from £25

:: New Look Khaki Camo Print Sports Bralette, £12.99; Khaki Camo Print Sports Leggings, £17.99

FLORALS

Think floral print and sportswear don't go together? You might change your mind when you see this season's styles. Rather than bright flower patterns, dark florals are blooming this spring, with graphic and abstract prints making these monochrome pieces easy to style with your existing separates.
