Marie Louise McConville: Ignore the detractors, I am just loving Love Island

So, who else has jumped on the Love Island bandwagon this summer?

I know I can't be the only one who has developed a shameful addiction to the ITV2 reality show because lots of people are talking about it - in the office, on the bus, in the shop, on social media.

And, while it was never my intention to tune in, I have somehow become engrossed in the goings-on among this group of singletons as they search for love in the sun.

It's my own fault really, I should have known from previous experience a few years ago that it only takes a minute of this show with the fantastic fashion and astonishing abs to draw you in.

And, despite the fact that we are only a few weeks in, we have already had drama by the bucket load - and I'm loving it.

Yes, I'm aware that it is shameful that I am admitting that I love this show given how much it has already been trashed by bigwig television critics but come on, it's all just a bit of fun.

Of course, it could be argued that there is an educational aspect to it, apart from the importance of applying sun protection, it's teaching us lessons about modern dating - how some men are easily led by a pretty face and will say anything to get what they want, and how some women just can't be trusted.

I have absolutely fallen for the charms of lovely Dr Alex.

The blonde A&E doctor, who is 27, has remained charming and chivalrous and honestly, he's better off without that Ellie one (she's playing a game).

In terms of couples, I'm loving Dani - daughter of EastEnders actor, Danny Dyer - and Jack.

The pair are so sweet together.

On the naughty beanbag is Adam who is just a sad excuse for a man.

Despite making all kinds of promises to every woman he has been paired up with, he is easily led by any new face who enters the villa.

And of course, Meghan, whose behaviour has been disgusting.

Despite the disapproving looks from some, I hereby pledge my heart to this show for the rest of the series.

As someone who now leads quite a quiet life, I'm simply loving the drama and am keeping my fingers crossed that true love blossoms - for some at least.

Surprise, surprise, the Spice Girls reunion has been cancelled - again.

According to media reports, the issue revolves around Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice, who reportedly refuses to tour.

A hotly-anticipated reunion has been teased from the start of the year however rifts between Posh and Melanie C, Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton have now stalled plans.

It had been claimed the girls were set to make £30 million each following the tour, rumoured to have been scheduled for September .

Ah well, we'll just have to find other ways to spice up our lives.
