Summer's arrived – it's time to enjoy the great outdoors with your favourite vino
When you find yourself in the garden soaking up the rays of sun with the barbecue on standby, it's time to indulge in your favourite wine, writes Dawn Egan
After a long winter there’s something nice about taking your food out to the garden to eat. And there’s nothing better than a good wine to complement it. Try:
Good Company Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, £6.99, Lidl. This is a new style from New Zealand’s Marlborough region which successfully combines a fashionably pale rosé colour with typical Sauvignon flavours. It is dry, fruity and with passionfruit aromas which makes it highly appetising. Enjoy with paella, fish pie or prawn curry. Great for al fresco dining.
If you’re opting for a barbecue and serving hamburgers, steak, barbecued ribs or beef then only the big red wines will do.
Try: Nederburg 56 Hundred Shiraz, around £6 in most supermarkets. It will complement all the earthy flavours of a sweet and smoky BBQ sauce with its crushed blackberry and black cherry fruit, soft and juicy mouthfeel and a touch of smoky spice on the finish. This is a really good, full-bodied Shiraz wine at a fairly decent price – the best Shiraz for a party and comes highly recommended.
