ARTHRITIS Care Northern Ireland is running a free six-week self-management course designed to help people with a wide variety of long-term conditions to better manage their condition and their pain and thereby improve their quality of life.

‘Challenging Your Condition’ is free to anyone over 18 who is living with illnesses – for example, arthritis, diabetes, MS, epilepsy or Parkinson's disease. It will be delivered by trained volunteers, all of whom are themselves living with such a condition.

Areas covered include learning how to manage your symptoms on a day-to-day basis and regain independence; topics discussed include pain management, controlling fatigue, healthy eating, exercise, relaxation and working more closely with your healthcare professionals.

‘Challenging Your Condition’ will take place in Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Avenue, BT14 6EG, starting on Thursday April 28 from 10.30am-1pm. Sessions run weekly for six weeks, each one lasting two and a half hours.
