Bathshack Antrim SHC Group 2, round one
Dunloy 0-24 V 0-18 St John’s
DUNLOY began their bid to win back the Antrim title with a six-point win over a gutsy St John’s side on Saturday evening.
Seaan Elliott (0-9) and Keelan Molloy (0-7) accounted for two-thirds of the home side’s total, with all of the latter’s scores coming from play, while midfielder Shea Shannon notched eight points for the visitors.
After a scrappy opening, it was eight minutes before there was a score with Aaron Bradley, who scored three points from play, getting the home side going as they built up a three-point lead by the halfway stage, 0-10 to 0-7.
The winning of the game came in the third quarter when Dunloy stretched their lead to nine points, with Molloy in particular executing some fantastic scores.
The city side did rally without ever looking like they could recover the deficit and they will now ready themselves for the visit of holders Cushendall in two weeks’ time, while the Cuchullain’s will travel to face Rossa.
