New monthly sales record set in December says Boulevard landlord

THE owner of The Boulevard in Banbridge said the Co Down shopping outlet set a new monthly sales record in December.

Lotus Property said the retail destination recorded a 23 per cent hike in sales last month compared with December 2019.

The Co Down property group bought the retail scheme in 2016 along with The Junction in Antrim.

The Antrim outlet also enjoyed a strong December, with sales up 14 per cent on December 2019.

Last year saw Lotus secure seven new tenants in Banbridge and launch a £10 million investment plan for The Junction in Antrim, which will see UK garden centre retailer Dobbies open a new 110,000 sq ft store at the location.

A new Tim Hortons drive-thru is also due to open at The Junction in early 2022.

Managing director Alastair Coulson said: “After starting 2021 in lockdown with limited retail open, we are thrilled that The Boulevard and The Junction finished with record breaking trading figures.

“It has been an extremely challenging 19 months for the retail industry, but we at Lotus Property are particularly proud of how hard everyone involved with The Junction and The Boulevard have worked to buck the retail trends and come out the other side stronger than ever.”

Designer womenswear boutique Olsen is due to open at The Boulevard this weekend.
