Bathroom showroom directors handed seven-year boardroom bans

TWO directors have been disqualified in the High Court for seven years each in respect of their conduct running a bathroom furniture sales company in Co Tyrone.

The boardroom bans were handed to John McBride (41) from Ligford Road in Omagh and Christopher Convery (52) of Wheatsheaf Park in Coleraine, who ran Touchwood Manufacturing Co Ltd.

The firm, which has been running since 1992, sold bathroom furniture from premises at Main Street in Plumbridge.

But it plunged went into liquidation in June 2013 with total debts of £371,551.

A number of matters of unfit conduct by both McBride and Convery in respect of their conduct as directors of the company, and which were accepted by the court, included their failure to co-operate with the liquidator by failing to deliver up adequate accounting books & records; reconcile stock figures with those stated in the draft accounts and as presented to the bank; and confirm the nature of certain payments and transactions.

The court also found a number of instances against them around their failure to file annual accounts on time, dating as far back as 2002.
