CO Antrim diagnostics group Randox is to open its first health clinic in the Republic.

The new facility in the affluent Dublin suburb of Sandyford is due to open on June 6, creating 30 jobs.

Randox launched its health clinic business in Co Antrim during 2016, as part of a move to open its diagnostic testing technology to the consumer market.

It now has more than 20 sites across the north and Britain.

Randox said its clinics offer “the world’s most advanced and personalised diagnostic testing directly to the public”.

The facilities specialise in preventive health screening, which Randox say are “designed to give you actionable insights into your current health status, with the aim of shifting healthcare away from sickness management and towards a more proactive approach”.

David Ferguson, chief operations officer for Randox Health, said the clinics “provide individuals with the necessary tools needed to take their health into their own hands”.

He added: “Over the past few years, we’ve seen a dramatic change in people’s behaviours as they seek to better understand their health and wellbeing.

“We believe that preventative measures such as these clinics are the way forward for healthcare.”

Although headquartered in Crumlin, Co Antrim, Randox has a sizeable operation in Dungloe, Co Donegal. The group employ around 2,500 staff in total worldwide.

In March, Randox announced plans to invest £36 million in a new facility at its Crumlin headquarters, creating 90 jobs.

Last year the company announced one of the largest annual profits ever recorded by a Northern Ireland-based business.

Randox declared a pre-tax profit of £275 million for 2021, driven by its Covid-19 tests.

The company became a major government contractor during the pandemic. The UK's Department of Health awarded 22 contracts to Randox, or its strategic partner, with a maximum value of £777m.

According to Randox, around 5 per cent of the world’s population – in excess of 370 million people across 145 countries – receive medical diagnosis using its products each year.
