O’Neills to expand retail presence at Belfast’s Kennedy Centre

SPORTS retailer O’Neills is to expand its store at Belfast’s Kennedy Centre.

The Strabane-based company, which manufactures its own sportswear, is set to extend its unit at the West Belfast retail and leisure hub this summer.

It follows the signing of a new long-term lease, cementing the GAA gear specialist’s commitment to the site.

It comes as the Kennedy Centre reported an 11 per cent increase in footfall last year, matching pre-covid levels.

Centre manager John Jones said a number of new lettings, including Tim Hortons; Partybox Pixies and Clonard Credit Union, had all factored into the footfall growth last year.

“We are delighted with the latest figures, which are testament to the fantastic offerings at the centre and we are grateful to our loyal customers who have supported us over the years," he said.

“We’ve had some fantastic new retailers and businesses open at the centre in the last few months as we continue to offer shoppers a great mix of national and independent brands in a modern and attractive environment.”

The Kennedy Centre has also benefited from the new installation of a new Belfast Bikes hub at the site.

“The visitor analytics are extremely encouraging and demonstrate that our approach here is working and has the support of shoppers and businesses alike,” continued the centre manager.

“With the expansion of O’Neill’s and the sustainable Belfast Bikes scheme up and running, we have no doubt that 2023 is going to be another exciting year for us.”
