BELFAST and Dublin-based Hospital Services Limited (HSL) has expanded its presence in England with a new office in Draycott, Derbyshire.

The hospital supplies firm, which has been trading for 60 years, said the new base is part of a £1.7 million investment to grow the company’s footprint in Britain over the coming years.

A specialist distributor of medical and surgical equipment, consumable products, and healthcare IT solutions, HSL employs around 120 people.

It has been backed financially by the London-based equity firm Foresight Group, with plans to grow the workforce by 60 per cent in the coming years through planned acquisitions and ongoing recruitment campaigns.

Commercial and finance director Graham Stewart said: “We are proud to be applying that track record of supplying high-quality and innovative technologies to departments and teams in a wide range of disciplines by doubling-down on plans for growth in the UK with the establishment of our East Midlands office and have further growth in the pipeline for HSL in Great Britain.”

A significant area of growth for HSL, has been within its telehealth business unit, which includes a range of telemedicine devices and services provided by experienced staff and backed by the wider HSL resources.

This area of the business was acknowledged by Zoom in 2022 after being named their first healthcare partner in the UK.

HSL's director of Telehealth, Sam McMaster, said: “During the pandemic and beyond, as patient waitlists are addressed and the healthcare sector continues to deal with staff shortages, telehealth has proven to be an essential tool for maintaining patient contact and indeed improving access to healthcare for many across the UK.

"We look forward to continued growth in this area as HSL’s reputation for excellence grows across GB."
