WRIGHTBUS, which created the world’s first hydrogen double deck bus, is holding a recruitment evening at its Ballymena site on Thursday January 5 from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss job opportunities and the company’s ongoing plans for the future, and there will also be a chance to have a tour of the factory and meet departmental managers and the HR team.

Wrightbus HR director Nicola McCloskey said: “We're very excited about our first recruitment open night of 2023.

“These evenings have been running for over a year now and have been an integral part of the Wrightbus recruitment campaign.

“In 2022 we saw employee numbers grow to 1,000, and we are delighted to be in a position to continue our growth with hundreds of career opportunities coming up in 2023.”

She added: “We have been so encouraged by the calibre of local candidates who have been attending our open nights, allowing us to continue to grow strong teams of highly-skilled, motivated and dedicated employees.

“With the potential to leave on the night with a job offer in hand, these events really are a fantastic opportunity and well worth attending.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has come along over the past year and look forward to meeting many more in 2023.”

The company has launched a recruitment drive as it looks to the future of zero-emission transport.

Wrightbus is behind the world’s first hydrogen-powered double deck bus and the world’s most efficient double deck electric bus.

Its hydrogen buses have covered an astonishing 1.5 million miles since first entering service, preventing 2,366 tonnes of harmful carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions entering the atmosphere compared to journeys made by an equivalent diesel bus, which would be the same as removing around 550 cars from British roads for a year.
