PLANS have been submitted for a new hotel close to the centre of Cookstown.

The proposal involves a new build 20-bedroom development on a vacant site behind properties on Loy Street and Fairhill Road, close to the town’s popular Time hospitality venue.

The application, which has been submitted by Wellwood Adami Ltd, includes a reception, car parking and a breakfast area for guests, with access from the Fairhill Road.

Wellwood Adami is owned by Shane and Conor Beckett, who are already established in the guest accommodation sector, with self-catering properties in Cookstown, Stewartstown and Portstewart.

The applicants notified Mid Ulster District Council of their plans at the end of last month.

The bid is currently at the consultation phase, with the council aiming to process the application by mid-March 2023.
