A BELFAST-based start-up has launched its artificial intelligence governance product on the main stage in a keynote speech at Europe’s leading AI conference Bitkom’s Big-Data in Berlin.

During the event, Enzai Technologies founder Ryan Donnelly gave a keynote speech on the emerging global frameworks to analyse AI systems against ethical standards, and how its product can help market participants navigate this increasingly complex space.

Enzai (www.enz.ai) was formed in 2021 by a team of leading lawyers and engineers concerned about the risks that computational models could pose to society at large.

Based at the Ormeau Baths in Belfast, Enzai has already closed its first investment round, which was led by leading venture capital with participation from relevant angels.

It is at the event after it was selected as one of the UK’s leading AI companies to take part in a one week long trade mission, organised by Innovate UK, to showcase the AI capabilities and build relationships with German industry.

During the week, part of which involves attending the conference, Enzai is also attending meetings with German government officials, innovative industry partners and leading AI academics.

Enzai's unique product is an AI governance platform, that helps users understand and manage the risks that comes with their AI systems; benchmark those systems against the emerging international regulations and frameworks; and create effective governance controls to ensure a thorough analysis of AI systems. It is already working closely with some of the world’s leading AI development teams.

“Getting this right is critical for the ecosystem,” Mr Donnelly said.

“AI technologies are incredibly powerful but without proper governance in place around these systems to manage risk, they will never gain the level of trust needed to fulfil their potential.

“The opportunity for us to speak about what we’re building at Bitkom, in a keynote speech in front of Europe’s leading AI experts, is really special – not many start-ups get the chance to do that. We’re really passionate about this space and can’t wait for the opportunity to present what we’ve been building.”
