A COLERAINE-based medical firm has secured planning permission for an £8 million factory expansion, creating 65 high-skilled jobs.

Respiratory device specialist Armstrong Medical secured the green light at Wednesday’s meeting of the Causeway Coast and Glens planning committee.

The Coleraine firm was acquired in late 2020 by the Eakin Healthcare Group.

The plans provide for additional manufacturing floorspace, warehousing floorspace, ancillary offices, staff parking and an extended service yard at the Wattstown Business Park.

Armstrong Medical said the build costs are expected to come in at around £6 million, with another £2m to be invested in plant, machinery and robotics.

The company said the project not only represents significant investment and job creation for the facility but will also benefit the local supply chain.
