BELFAST-based Parr Facilities Management has completed the fit-out works and facilities management support at a 30,000 sq ft site at Longwood retail park in Newtownabbey for Home Bargains’s largest Northern Ireland store and its fourth largest in the UK.

The six-month project represented a significant investment by Home Bargains into its growing portfolio in the north, and sees 80 jobs created.

Consisting of demolition works, the strip-out of previous DIY-store unit and fit-out including partition walls, terrazzo flooring, fire curtains and all building fabric, 60 members of the Parr FM team worked within the evolving Covid-19 safety protocols and guidelines to bring the project to completion.

Following several successful project deliveries across in Britain and Northern Ireland over the past seven years, Parr has built a strong relationship with Home Bargains, one of the UK’s fastest-growing and highest-rated retailers, and is its preferred contractor for fit-out works.

Managing director Stephen Parr said: “Over recent years we've developed a positive working relationship with the team at Home Bargains through on-time and on-budget deliveries of several large-scale projects as well as our continued routine care which delivers maximum efficiency, safety and peace of mind.

“We are proud to have worked closely with Home Bargains to deliver this especially exciting project during a time of added challenges with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”

Building on a notable portfolio of retail clients including Lush, Footasylum and Co-Op, the contract with Home Bargains enabled Parr FM to increase its own staff numbers by around a third.
