CONSTRUCTION group Kane has secured a £29 million design and build contract with Balfour Beatty to deliver the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) installation at phase two of the Lewisham Gateway scheme in London.

The 26-month contract consists of the design and construction of 649 residential units (530 apartments and 119 co-living spaces). The project also incorporates retail units, a shell finished space for a cinema, and the build and fit out of a co-living facility.

All offsite construction will be at Kane’s prefabrication facility in Banbridge.

The firm's managing director Cathal McMullan said: “We're delighted to secure this project with a new client in Balfour Beatty and we look forward to delivering an exceptional MEP contract which we can all be proud of.

“This is a testament to the whole team at Kane, showcasing our outstanding in-house capabilities to deliver contracts to this scale in the high-rise residential market.”

Lewisham Gateway is the latest in a number of major contracts for Kane in Britain, which most recently has included the design and build MEP installation of phases one and two at Kew Bridge development in Brentford, situated close to the new Brentford FC Community Stadium.
