Work starts on £3.5m housing scheme in Carrickfergus

How the new Tides development in Carrickfergus will look on completion next year

HAGAN Homes has begun construction on 16 new two-bedroom apartments at The Tides development in Carrickfergus.

The scheme on Old Shore Road is contracted to MCA Building and Joinery in Greenisland, and prices for the turnkey homes will range from between £225,000 and £250,000.

The first of the apartments will be handed over next January, with the remainder due for completion by the following May.

During the construction phase, 45 jobs will be created, and there is likely to be a further boost to the wider economy through increased footfall for businesses within close proximity to The Tides.

Jim Burke, director of sales and acquisitions at Ballyclare-based Hagan Homes, said: “The apartments will boast a luxurious finish to full turnkey specification including high quality fixtures and fittings throughout, and we expect demand to be high.”

The scheme is part of Hagan Homes' commitment to build 2000 new homes over the next decade as part of a £300m development programme which will create and sustain hundreds of jobs in the building trade.
