DOMINO’S has said like-for-like sales in the UK rose 5.1 per cent between the lockdown on March 23 and June 14.

The pizza chain, which has around 30 outlets in Northern Ireland said orders for delivery more than offset the move to pause customer collections due to the pandemic.

But it said the extra costs of meeting new social distancing rules mean underlying earnings are still expected to fall slightly in the first half.

Its business in the Republic was also hit hard by the pandemic, with sales falling 9.2 per cent since the lockdown. The group said UK sales rose 3.7 per cent overall in the first half so far to June 14.
