A CO Down company has launched the world’s first music video database to help bands promote their music.

Budget Music Videos in Dromore has developed a website which lets musicians choose their style of music video, add their music and download in a matter of minutes at fraction of the cost and labour of normal music videos.

The company enrolled in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s business engagement programme, which provides one-to-one mentoring support.

The council helped the company to find its current premises, and the founder Loraa White has used her story and experience to inspire others by presenting during Enterprise Week, as well as acting as an ambassador for the Digital Youth Programme.

The company is addressing the growing need for faster, cheaper and easily accessible content for music makers to promote their product.

Over the last two years, Budget has built its ecommerce website with a proof of concept grant from Techstart NI, building custom editing software so musicians can edit their video before they buy.

The company has collaborated with one of the biggest music platforms for independent music, including Reverbnation.com, which has more than five million subscribers worldwide.

Reverbnation has been promoting Budget Music Videos – one of only 10 companies - on their opportunities page where musicians can shop for companies they want to work with, a chance which arose as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Loraa White said: “As we know, musicians starting out do not have a lot of cash, so figuring out a way to help them, was a challenge. We wanted to offer more services for musicians to help the whole process, including video marketing and online tutorials, so musicians could be fully armed with everything they need to launch and market their music.

“We have only recently launched the business and it has been a huge success so far. I look forward to growing Budget Music Videos further in the coming months internationally and collaborating with more music platforms across Europe and the UK.”

ABC lord mayor Mealla Campbell said: “The Budget Music Videos product is undoubtedly a world-class offering. The inherent innovation and ingenuity of Loraa and the team has developed a truly unique product which is tapping into a real need in the music industry and the company looks set for global success.”
