CLEAR Day Nurseries plans to open a new £1 million facility in Lisburn at the former Point Restaurant on Bridge Street in a move which will create 30 jobs .

The nursery will have places for up to 100 children, and it complements Clear Day's other nurseries in Belfast, Dundonald, Portadown, Newtownabbey, Dollingstown and Bangor.

Alderman William Leathem, chair of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's development committee, welcomed the investment.

He said: “The council is delighted to see the former site at Bridge Street being converted into a childcare facility.

“Our younger generation is important and working parents want their children to receive quality of care in an accessible location near to their workplace.

“Clearly Kids is hugely experienced in childcare and I'm confident the 100 places in its Bridge Street state of the art facility will be quickly filled. We welcome this investment and job creation and wish Clearly Kids every success as they start their renovation project.”

Audrey McCracken, director of Clear Day Nurseries, said: “All six of our existing nurseries are rated in the top 20 in Northern Ireland and we are the only Northern Ireland nursery group in the UK top 20.

“We are delighted to be bringing our high quality of childcare to this new specialist facility in Lisburn, and we look forward to welcoming parents and children to Clearly Kids Lisburn when we open in December.”

Once work commences the Clear Group will have full use and management of the parking spaces in the Union Bridge car park, with the council set to approve the leasing it its 16 spaces to the nursery.
