OVER 5,000 reservations have been made at a new Belfast restaurant, which opened its doors just this week.

Scottish restaurant chain 'Six By Nico' is now open on Waring Street in the city's busy Cathedral Quarter.

It is the third addition to the growing restaurant portfolio, taking Nico’s conceptual restaurant idea out of Scotland for the first time.

Renowned Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone has brought his unique Glasgow and Edinburgh dining experience to Belfast as part of a £500,000 investment, which has created 40 new jobs.

The innovative concept sees the restaurant serve a brand new six-course tasting menu every six weeks, each one themed on a different place, memory or idea.

"I have been working with my creative team over the past number of months to bring Six by Nico to Belfast and my vision has finally become a reality," Mr Simeone said.

"I always wanted my next venture outside Scotland to be in Belfast as I love the city and I am delighted to be open. Six by Nico is a totally different dining experience and I hope that people will leave having had an unforgettable meal."

Over 5,000 reservations were made ahead of the launch of the new 80-seater restaurant, which offers a six-course tasting menu for £28 per person.

The 'Chippie' menu is the first available at the Belfast restaurant and provides a nostalgic nod to the traditional fish and chip shop.
