FOOD service and outsourcing giant, Mount Charles has won new contracts worth £75 million over the past year.

The Belfast-headquartered company has posted "hugely encouraging" financial results, with the latest contract wins pushing turnover up by 20 per cent over the year to £40m.

The uplift keeps the company on course to achieve its target of £100m revenue by 2025.

The new contracts in the north include Belfast International Airport, Wrightbus and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.

In the Republic market Mount Charles grew its sales by 30 per cent last year on the back of securing tenders for the National Aquatic Centre, Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport as well as LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.

Looking ahead the company has targeted the Irish market for further expansion.

Trevor Annon, chairman and founder of Mount Charles said growth in a competitive market is a "hugely encouraging" for the company.

"Over the past 12 months we’ve secured a substantial number of lucrative new contracts in what we feel is clear sign that we are bringing an attractive offering to the table, in terms of value, quality and innovation in our approach," he said.

“There is certainly still room for growth in Northern Ireland, but growing our market share in the Republic will be a major driver for overall company expansion over the next five years.

“We’re delighted with the progress we’ve made in the last year, and thanks to increased infrastructure and a focus on strategic talent acquisition in Dublin, we believe we’re in a strong position to really push forward in Ireland in the year ahead," Mr Annon added.

Mount Charles currently employs 2,500 staff and services over 400 clients across the UK and Ireland.
