A NEWTOWNABBEY street furniture manufacturer has purchased a Co Down firm as it looks to continue on a path of ongoing growth.

Environmental Street Furniture (ESF) has confirmed the acquisition of Dromore-based specialist perimeter security company, Sentry Posts for an undisclosed sum.

ESF, which specialises in design and supply of street, themed and solar powered products, hopes the latest expansion will enhance the firm's global export reach, which already stretches to 22 countries.

ESF managing director, Alan Lowry said the acquisition marks an another important stage in the growth of the Newtownabbey company.

"Whilst we have a selection of security products on our portfolio at present, this latest move will give us access to a greater customer base and will enable us to provide a more comprehensive collection and structured support," he said.

“ESF is committed to sustaining and developing the outstanding reputation that has been built by Sentry Posts over the last 20 years and we’re confident that this is a positive step for all involved, that will result in a much stronger team. We look forward to the journey ahead.”

Sentry Posts is a leading supplier of bollard systems, perimeter security and traffic products in Ireland. Since establishing in 1998, the company has partnered with ATG Access, supplying prestigious projects including Arsenal Football Stadium, Wellington Arch in London, as well as the Europa Hotel and the Charles Hurst and Trust Ford dealerships in Northern Ireland.

Andrew Doig, who has successfully managed Sentry Posts in recent years, will continue to direct trading relations under the new ownership structure. A total of three staff members will join Environmental Street Furniture (ESF) from Sentry as a result of the acquisition.

"We’re looking forward to working with ESF in moving the Sentry Posts brand forward. ESF has a fantastic reputation and has achieved global success so we’re excited about the prospects of what is to come for Sentry, with Alan’s guidance," Mr Doig added.

ESF works with some of the world’s biggest and best known theme parks in Orlando, Hong Kong and Dubai.

Last year the award-winning company completed its largest ever contract - a £600,000 deal to supply Dubai Arena and opened its first American office in Washington DC.
