A NEW community supermarket has opened in Lisburn following a significant refurbishment, creating 22 new jobs.

The former Spar store on Hillsborough Road has been transformed into a new Eurospar store, significantly bigger than its predecessor. The new 6,322 sq ft store is 60 per cent larger than the previous store, while staff numbers have almost doubled.

The former Spar store has undergone a significant transformation and has opened with a host of new additions and enhanced services for the local community to enjoy. This includes a bakery, daily deli, hot food counter and self-service chicken bar

It also features an extended range of dairy products and a Richardson’s in-store butchery counter.

The Eurospar will also be home to a new post office in the town, which will run to the same opening hours as the supermarket. An Occasions gift shop, Maud’s ice-cream counter and designated Kids Zone further add to the enhanced customer experience.

Store manager, Paul O’Halloran hopes the new supermarket will be a welcome addition for local shoppers:

“I’ve been working in retail for 29 years and know that maintaining a good customer offering is the key to success. I’m immensely proud to be opening what is undoubtedly a huge asset to the town and pleased the supermarket has so many nods to the local area."

Mark McCammond, Henderson retail director said the new supermarket is a great asset for the town and part of ongoing expansions for the brand.

This is the 62rd Eurospar now operational in Northern Ireland and we have plans to continue to grow this number over the next few years," he said.

The Henderson Group, which encompasses Henderson Retail, own or lease stores under the Eurospar brand in the north.
