BEER prices in London are twice as expensive as in other parts of the UK, a new study has found.
The average price of a pint in the capital is £5.19, compared with £2.35 in Carlisle, £2.60 in Chelmsford and £2.75 in Newport, south Wales, research by price comparison firm Money Guru showed.
Other cities said to have high beer prices include Oxford (average of £4.57 a pint), Edinburgh (£4.35), Bristol (£4.32) and Winchester (4.30).
Cheaper prices can also be found in Armagh (£2.78) and Salisbury (£2.80), said the report.
James MacDonald of Money Guru, said: "It's eye-opening to uncover such a large difference in the price of a pint of beer across the UK.
"The disparity in cost turns what should be an enjoyable experience into a penny-pinching exercise."
