Training firm creates 8 jobs through European contract wins

NORTHERN Ireland training organisation, People 1st has secured two new European contracts, which will create eight jobs and safeguard a further eight more.

People 1st, has won two European Social Fund programme contracts, which will enable the firm to continue to provide training and consultation to its LEMIS+ and The Community Family Support Programme.

Established in 2002, the organisation provides vocational training, corporate training, essential skills and consultancy advice across the north. It delivers a number of vocational programmes for the Department for Economy (DfE) Apprenticeship and Training for Success Programmes, and has offices in Belfast, Lisburn, Portadown, Lurgan and Newry.

People 1st director, Ronan Heenan welcomed the new contracts.

“These new contracts are important as they will help safeguard eight posts that we’ve created over the past four years. They also enable us to continue to grow the organisation by taking on an additional eight staff to help deliver the programmes.”

"In the past year we’ve helped more than 500 people get back into employment through our various programmes and delivered training to a number of organisations across Northern Ireland. Our aim is to help people overcome the challenges in their lives in order to find a way back into work. There is a lack of opportunities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds in Northern Ireland and we’re keen to give those people the right resources to start a career," he added.

People 1st recently achieved platinum status in Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies.The platinum status comes the firm being ranked in the Best Managed Companies for the past ten years.
