PHARMACEUTICAL giant Norbrook is creating more new jobs following a strong year of growth across the business.

The privately-owned, global veterinary pharmaceutical company, based in Newry, saw a 14 per cent increase in revenue and a 30 per cent increase in operating profit during 2017.

With a second, new state-of-the-art laboratory facility opened earlier this year, the company is investing in growing the team and "providing exciting and challenging opportunties for employees to develop their careers".

The laboratory is part of a multi-year £50 million capital investment programme which also includes an ongoing programme to upgrade current manufacturing facilities and continued investment in IT infrastructure.

"At Norbrook, we are passionate about our community and have a comprehensive programme of events for employees to give something back to our local community here in Northern Ireland and in Africa," said a company spokesperson.

"This is an exciting time to join Norbrook as we continue to grow our business globally. We are recruiting for talented individuals to come join our team and help us deliver our strategy."

Company results released recently show stellar growth across all sectors of the business which boasts a payroll of some 2,000 staff – 1,700 of whom are based in Newry. Another 100 employees are stationed in Nairobi and the remainder dotted across around Europe, the US and Australia.

While Norbrook supplies 80 per cent of its veterinary pharmaceuticals to enhance the health of farm animals, a major growth area has been in supplying into the so-called 'companion animals sector' for domesticated or domestic-bred animals, such as pets or working dogs.
